All the pretty notebooks

So I went a little crazy in TK Maxx yesterday. That shop is a real danger to me as I love hunting for treasure.

I ended up buying nearly all the Moleskine notebooks, only to later find out that a few of them are lined when I wanted plain ones. Silly me.

How pretty they look.

I also bought this notebook full of sticky notes because our house doesn’t have enough sticky notes (abject lie, we definitely have enough for a good few years of note taking).

I saw the watercolour paper and I just could not resist. It seemed like a notepad that came straight out of the Beautiful Mess blog, it had to be done.

All the sticky notes… for things…

And the last ridiculously pretty thing I bought is this cheesecake tin in turquoise! ❤ Did you notice I had a problem for all things turquoise? No? Oh you will!

Do you also have a stationery problem? Feel free to link pictures of al things turquoise in the comments 🙂

Pretty things – June

I’ve bought a few pretty things this month that I wanted to share. The first is a lipstick from No7 called spring pink. It’s super pretty and exactly what I was looking for for spring.

I found this Lancôme eyeshadow at a bargain! I had originally seen the gold one which was the shiniest eyeshadow ever and thought “this needs to be mine”. They only had the bronze one when I went back. In retrospect this is much more wearable and still very shiny.

Look at that packaging! So pretty!SAM_5879The last thing is the Benefit instant BROW pencil. I’m going for a lighter colour on my brows so I thought this would be perfect. I used to use the Faint shadow from the Naked Basics palette so this is a big change. The pencil is really smooth but the only problem with that is that is gets used easily… and I’m not the best at carrying my pencil sharpener with me.

IMG_1178Now to finish this post with pictures of weekend brunch, my favourite time of the week. This one is from Elephant and Castle in Temple Bar. They amazingly serve Eggs Benedict on french toast with maple syrup, bacon and apple. Pretty sure I made some obscene noises while eating this.Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset

Happy Weekend!

Taste of Dublin

I’ve managed to not write this post 3 times. Hopefully it will be 4th time lucky!

Last week I went to Taste of Dublin, a food festival that takes place once a year. The concept is a bit odd because you have to pay for entry and also pay to eat anything in there. No free samples for you!  And it ain’t cheap either. When you go in, you change your real money for fake money that, like cinderella’s ball gown, is useless to you past ten when the festival ends. People were in their Sunday best, I was very surprised, I’d never seen so many well dressed people in my life. Although, again like cinderella, the spell wore off as they drunkenly stumbled into Diceys at eleven O’Clock.

The restaurants that have stalls are pretty nice so if you like the ingredients of what you’re buying, it’s going to be delicious. The firs thing I had was steak and chips from the Chophouse, the line was massive but it was delicious. The dish was served with a Béarnaise sauce that I now have dreams about, I just want to drink the stuff. It was so good I didn’t take a picture, very unusual of me!

I also had surf and turf which consisted of a square of pork belly and a scallop, very tasty. I’m not usually one for fatty meat but that pork belly was yummy.

I got a dessert which was petit four, a macaron, a salted caramel truffle (nom) and possibly raspberry jelly. It was some berry, I don’t remember which, it was delicious.

I of course drank copious amounts of wine that was actually reasonably priced (with a scallop and pork belly square that cost 6 euro you’d want the wine to be cheap).

Another notable thing I did was go on a lovely cycle on Sunday, and made a delicious gratin dauphinois! Definitely not a very healthy weekend, that hour cycle probably just worked off the caramel truffle… Oh well 🙂

That’s my weekend in a nutshell, what about your weekend? Any interesting food?

Bloom

This weekend I went to Bloom in the Phoenix Park. Bloom is a Garden festival, but what I was interested in was the food trucks and the food market, taking pretty pictures of flowers was also a plus. I went accompanied with the Boyfriend, my sister, mother, aunt and grandad. A grand troop of us. I got to take many pictures of flowers that I am undoubtedly going to put up on instagram, eat a bunch of samples and buy some nice things.

Before I show you some pictures, let’s take a minute to enjoy the fact that today is Monday the first. I don’t know why but that feels good!

I had forgotten how delicious strawberries and cream were. So simple but so good!

I went to the cheese market of course, one thing you should know about me is that I am crazy about cheese. I got some Sheep cheese and also some fancy Sheridan’s crackers, fancy because they are expensive and have pretty packaging.

I bought some delicious pies from the Skoff stand, at 3 euro each they were a steal!

Nom!

That was my event for the weekend, the rest was filled with oh so glamorous tidying, cleaning and many episodes of Brooklyn nine-nine, hilarious show!

Yes!

This is it guys, spring is here… maybe…
As though to celebrate the success of the YES to Equality for marriage campaign the sun has come out in Dublin! The day was filled with happiness as equal rights triumphed in the country.
The city centre was crazy so I wasn’t out for very long but I finally got to bring out these floral trousers I bought months ago when I thought it was going to be spring and it was a fantastic day, I got to sit at a cafe drinking coffee in the sun. Hopefully they’ll be more of these days to come.
Yes!
Of course, the obligatory brunch picture!

Weekends you are my friend

I decided to do another Polyvore set with multiple outfits because, well because I find it so much fun! It makes me feel like I’m doing something creative with minimal input and no messiness! When making sets lately I find that I’ve been going for a lot of grey things, I’ve no idea why. It’s spring so you’d expect me to be going for a lot of turquoise and coral but the weather has been pretty crap this year in Dublin so it may be that my inspiration is coming from the sky. This is another work wear one, I’ve been trying to go for a more “grown up” look now… that the thirties are in the horizon… but I don’t think I’ll ever have a polka dot free wardrobe.
Work work work
My weekend has been full of running around but I got to have a lovely brunch with the boyfriend this morning in this café called “The Third Space”. Nom!

Hope you had a great weekend!

IKEA Haul!

I went to IKEA yesterday! The exclamation mark in the title should give you an insight of how I feel about IKEA. IKEA is one of my happy places, I love going there because it’s a warehouse full of hope. I know it’s weird, that a furniture store would make you hope, but it makes you think about when you’ll be able to have your own place and own your own kitchen utensils. Now that I do have my own place it still is full of happiness, I love having my own kitchen utensils!

My main aim was to get a sewing machine, I love crafts and making things so this is a great addition to my craft inventory. Of course the reasoning is that I’ll finally get to do something with all the bits of materials I’ve collected over the years.

Of course, when you go to IKEA you buy silly things, but silly things that make you happy. The first thing I picked up was this cup, it reminded me of French country side crockery and my French grandmother’s house, so I decided it needed to be mine.

The next thing I saw was these straws, I know they will brighten up rainy days.

I of course HAD to buy some material to make things with my brand new sewing machine. I am very excited about making things with this material! The flower pattern is destined to be a yoga mat bag.

I picked up this carafe that was super cheap, it was 1.70, such good value! Originally I bought it for lemon water, to be healthy, but it’s probably solely going to be a red wine carafe.

Chopping boards, these are boring I know, but they are colourful and I needed them.

Lunch boxes! Yellow and bright, these are going to make me smile everyday.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

I’ve wanted this one for ages! A wooden popcorn bowl, I’m sure it will get used for the occasional salad too.

Plates, because who doesn’t need more colourful plates?

I also got a free hotdog for using my family card, love free food!

I also bought candles, can’t go to IKEA and leave without candles!

What’s your favourite thing about IKEA?

The Woolen Mills

First food post of many more to come!

Yesterday my mom and I went to the Woolen Mills in the city centre. The restaurant used to be a wool and fabric shop of the same name. I used to go there often and was very sad when it closed (my choice of wool colours was more limited) but I took comfort in the fact that it was turned into a place with delicious food.

We ate upstairs with a lovely view of the Liffey, I love the decor.

I had a pastrami and swiss cheese sandwich with chickpea soup.

My mom had a tuna sandwich, I’d had it before and it was sooooo yummy! I’m definitely going to have to get it again.

I had to ask the waiter what the “green thing” was because I’d never seen it before. My mom said it must be a type of seaweed and I thought it was a weird cousin of asparagus. It turns out it’s called samphire, a type of seaweed also called the asparagus of the sea. I’d like to think we were both right… but really she was… don’t tell her I said that.

I’d definitely recommend the Woolen Mills, tasty food, a great view and nice staff that don’t laugh at you when you ask them what things are!

Spring Workwear

It’s spring! With spring comes a slight adjustment to the wardrobe. Emphasis on slight, I am in Dublin after all. It’s now time to leave scarves at home and warm enough to go outside in a shirt… with your coat in your hand because there might be surprise rain at any minute. There will be a part two soon where I will have decided that I need to wear a floral item of clothing everyday 🙂
